First-ever global IT staffing market estimates released

The global information technology staffing market is estimated at $55.4 billion, according to Staffing Industry Analysts’ first-ever detailed global estimates. Within the professional staffing category, IT staffing represented 40 percent of all global professional temporary revenue, followed by healthcare, finance and accounting and engineering staffing.

The report, “Global Staffing Industry Size 2012” includes a detailed analysis of 40 most significant staffing markets globally. The United States is the world’s largest IT staffing market; Europe and Asia Pacific followed in second- and third-place respectively. Latin America and Africa & the Middle East represented only approximately $3 billion of the total.

“We have been reporting for years on the U.S. staffing market, which we currently put at $24.2 billion, but this is the first time we have had hard data on the global market,” commented Senior Research Analyst Sona Sharma. “It’s exciting to see that the global market is twice as big as the U.S. alone. Of course, all this is excluding IT solutions business, which is very big in Asia in particular. Based on our U.S. forecast, IT looks to be very strong for the near future; we currently forecast U.S. IT staffing growth at 7 percent in 2014.”
