The number of online job ads for cyber security professionals in the United States reached an all-time high in April, according to Wanted Analytics, a firm that tracks online job ads. Postings for cyber security professionals increased 20 percent year over year and more than 60 percent from two years ago to more than 7,800, according to Wanted Analytics.
The most commonly advertised job titles that require cyber security experience include:
- Cyber security analyst
- Cyber security engineer
- Software engineer
- Systems engineer
- Systems administrator
- Network engineer
- Program manager
- Information technology security specialist
- Cyber security specialist
- Information security analyst
The metropolitan areas with the highest volume of listings in April were Washington, Baltimore, New York, Boston and San Diego. The Washington metro area saw the most available positions. However, Boston experienced the greatest growth in demand over the past year of these five areas, with the number of job ads that were available during April up 120 percent year over year. New York saw the second highest growth of these cities, up 88 percent.
