Huron buys healthcare technology consulting firm

Huron Consulting Group Inc. (NASD: HURN) acquired Vonlay LLC, a healthcare technology consulting firm specializing in clinical, administrative and financial systems.

The acquisition closed May 2; terms of the transaction were not announced. Vonlay will be included in the Huron Healthcare segment, which accounts for more than 50 percent of Huron’s overall revenue.

Vonlay expands Huron Healthcare’s capabilities in healthcare information technology, particularly electronic health records systems.

“The addition of Vonlay introduces a new set of capabilities for Huron Healthcare to deliver value to hospital, health system and physician group clients,” said CEO and President James Roth. “Vonlay’s services will enhance our performance improvement and clinical transformation solutions, and will enable our clients to better realize a return on the significant investment that many of them have made in automating electronic health records.”

Approximately 130 Vonlay professionals joined Huron Healthcare. Managing partners Aaron Carlock, Mike Kolpien and Farhan Ahmad joined Huron as managing directors.

Vonlay is headquartered in Wisconsin and Huron Consulting Group is based in Chicago.
