Engineer, computer science grads to have highest starting salaries

Engineering majors are projected to post the highest starting salary, at $62,998, among graduates of the class of 2015, according to salary survey data released by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Computer science majors come next with a projected starting salary of $61,287.

At the master’s degree level, computer science majors have the highest salary projection for the class of 2015 at $71,140.

The average projected salaries by discipline for bachelor’s degrees include:

  • Engineering: $62, 998
  • Computer science: $61,287
  • Math and sciences: $56,171
  • Business: $51,508
  • Agriculture and natural resources: $51,220
  • Healthcare: $50,839
  • Communications: $49,395
  • Social sciences: $49,047
  • Humanities: $45,042

The January 2015 Salary Survey included 316 NACE employer members, who reported their projected salaries for their anticipated new hires from the class of 2015. It was conducted from Aug.11 through Nov. 24, 2014.
