Kelly awarded $585 million NIH contract

Kelly Services Inc. (NASD: KELYA) was awarded a three-year, $585 million contract with the National Institutes of Health.

NIH, the US Department of Health and Human Services’ medical research agency, is the primary federal agency conducting medical research. It investigates the causes, treatments and cures for both common and rare diseases.

Under the contract, Kelly will provide scientific, technical and other professional support services to all of the 27 NIH institutes and centers.

Kelly first began working with the NIH in 2003 on an individual task order and through subsequent years won consecutive and larger contracts with the agency. It manages the contract through a dedicated program office that provides sourcing, recruiting, onboarding and orientation, professional development, performance management and employee rewards and recognition.

“There is no other organization in the world quite like NIH and supporting their mission has required us to build a team of highly experienced managers, specialized recruiters and government contracting specialists to meet their unique needs,” said James Hoen, VP and division manager of Kelly Government Solutions. “The biggest challenge that we continue to face has been attracting and maintaining a high caliber of specialized talent. With our excellent recruiting capabilities and talent supply chain partners, coupled with our outsourcing expertise, Kelly is able to design a program that provides NIH with a solution that is agile and efficient in responding to their scientific research needs.”
