This week is the eighth annual “National Health IT Week,” the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society announced. The week is feature a series of events including a consumer health IT summit and HIMSS 12th annual policy summit in Washington.
The week is being recognized in several locations across the country. In New York state, plans called for activities showcasing the benefits of health IT on healthcare delivery, patient safety and other things.
“Here in New York, we are proving that data can be carefully used to improve people’s health without compromising privacy,” said New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Nirav Shah. “Just this year, we launched New York’s health open data website, Health Data NY and became among the first states I the country to liberate state health data from our files.”
