TeamHealth acquires medical scribe services firm

TeamHealth Holdings Inc. (NYSE: TMH), the seventh-largest U.S. healthcare staffing provider, acquired Fort Worth, Texas-based PhysAssist Scribes Inc., a provider of physician record and clerical assistant staffing.

PhysAssist will retain its brand and operate under its current leadership as a separate division of TeamHealth. The PhysAssist management team will provide leadership and oversight of TeamHealth’s development of scribe services.

“The addition of PhysAssist to TeamHealth deepens our commitment to becoming a comprehensive healthcare solutions organization,” said Mike Snow, president and CEO of TeamHealth. “As our hospital partners continue implementing electronic medical record systems, we have found it necessary to respond with scribe programs to minimize service disruption and maintain quality patient care. PhysAssist is a national leader in providing the expertise, resources and infrastructure for successful scribe programs.”

PhysAssist, founded in 1995, provides scribe services for more than 155 emergency departments in 22 states.
