Streamlining HR processes, healthcare reform are top initiatives

Streamlining human resource processes and preparing for healthcare reform rank among top cost-saving initiatives.

The ranking is based on a survey almost 500 healthcare HR professionals in the U.S. by HealthcareSource and The American Society for healthcare Human Resources Administration.

HR pros were asked what they plan to implement in order to reduce costs. The top three initiatives included:

  • Streamlining HR processes, 66 percent
  • Improving employee retention rates, 66 percent
  • Planning for the impact of healthcare reform, 64 percent

The survey also found more senior HR leaders chose preparing for healthcare reform as a top priority than workers lower on the organization chart. For example, preparing for healthcare reform was cited as a top initiative by 80 percent of C-level executives but only 56 percent of individual contributors such as HR generalists.
