Accountable buys West Coast staffing firm

Accountable Healthcare Staffing Inc. acquired California-based healthcare staffing firm HRN Services Inc., its ninth and largest acquisition to date. The transaction closed Dec. 9 and terms were not disclosed.

HRN has eight offices: six in California and one each in Las Vegas and Seattle. They will operate under the brand HRN, an Accountable Healthcare Staffing Company. The company's founders, Art and Karen Flaster, will remain with the business, with Art Flaster as a member of AHS’ board of directors and Karen Flaster as director of HRN clinical services.

HRN marks the 22-month-old firm’s fourth acquisition in 2013 after five acquisitions in 2012.

“We’ve been able to move the needle pretty dramatically this year,” said Eddie Albert, AHS’ director of mergers and acquisitions. “We certainly expect to continue to drive the consolidation in the staffing industry in 2014.”

The acquisition brings AHS to 40 offices nationwide and Albert expects the company to land a spot on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of largest healthcare staffing firms next year.

“This acquisition puts us firmly in the top 15, and we expect to be rising on that list in 2014,” Albert said.

AHS completed its third round equity raise in July.
