Temp Bill Rates Rise for IT, Professional Workers

Temporary labor bill rates rose in the third quarter with increases among professional-level workers, according to the third-quarter release of the IQNdex, an index of temporary labor bill rates produced by IQNavigator.

September’s IQNdex reading of 106.2 is up 1.6 percent from the September 2011 reading.

The IQNdex also breaks out temporary bill into four segments — technical IT, professional-managerial, office-clerical and light industrial. And the increase in bill rates over the last year occurred among the higher-level workers.

The technical IT segment of the index was up almost 5 percent on a year-over-year basis in September, and the professional-managerial reading rose more than 2.0 percent.

On the other hand, the reading for the office-clerical segment of the index fell almost 4 percent. And the light industrial segment was little changed from the start of the year.

The IQNdex is a summary of bill rates — the hourly amount paid by companies to staffing firms — over 130 jobs titles. The baseline month for the IQNdex is January 2008.
