World – Monster survey reflects confidence in job market

24 June 2013

Monster’s latest job market survey reveals that 79% of job seekers are confident about finding a job in the next 12 months. 77% agree, however, that it is more challenging to find a job compared with a year ago.

Jeffrey Quinn, Vice President of Monster’s Global Insights, said, “While the survey indicates high levels of confidence among respondents in finding a job within the next 12 months, seekers are up against a competitive job market with 73% reporting the market is saturated by qualified people in their area of expertise. It is also interesting to see that more than half (53%) of the respondents are willing to relocate for the right opportunity which indicates an acknowledgement of a high degree of flexibility possibly required to find a new position.”

The survey reflects a wide diversity in current levels of job satisfaction. Those least satisfied work predominately in customer services, manufacturing, skilled trades, and education. The most satisfied employees work as engineers and finance professionals.

Job seekers in IT, sales, management, and engineering are more confident in their ability to find work. Administrative, education, and customer service workers are least confident in the current job market.
