World – Global Contingent Market Estimate 2012

20 December 2013

Today we have re-released our estimate for the size of the global contingent market, which includes:

  • Temporaries/Temporary Agency Workers (TAW)
  • Other Temporaries
  • Independent Contactors

We estimate that the global contingent market was worth a combined USD 2.5 trillion during 2012, an increase of more than +95% compared with our estimate in 2009 of USD 1.3 trillion, at the peak of the global financial crisis.

However, in the year prior to the global financial crisis, the market was estimated at USD 1.8 trillion representing a more modest increase of +41% over a five year period.

If we included Statement of Work (SOW) consultants, the estimate increases further to USD 3.5 trillion for 2012.
