Following accusations that Adecco Group stole his idea for their recent recruitment campaign, Adecco Group has paid blogger Turner Barr USD 50,000. Posting on his blog, Mr Barr confirmed that Adecco had met his demands, following a publically supported online campaign.
Mr Barr, in an open letter to Adecco, demanded the following conciliations:
- Apologise for its mistake and take responsibility
- Compensate Mr Turner USD 50,000, the same amount paid to the advertising firm that used the ‘Around the World in 80 Jobs’ marketing initiative.
- Cease and desist using the brand ‘Around the World in 80 Jobs’.
- Donate USD 50,000 to Save the Elephant Foundation to prove Adecco’s commitment to bring social awareness to social responsibility.
“We have apologised to Turner Barr and have come to an agreement about how we can make it right with him. We will also deliver on our promise to our contest winners who deserve a unique job experience… We’ve learned a lot in the past few weeks. We will work to make this right. We will do this because we are a company of great people who sometimes make mistakes, learn from them, and do better next time,” advised Adecco in a statement to inc.com.
