Japanese staffing giant Pasona this week announced a partnership with a Singaporean university to help students find work experience in the region. The recruiter, the 11th largest in the world, will partner with Nanyang Technological University to launch its so-called Internship Matching Service.
This allows students enrolled at the university to find internship opportunities at mainly Japanese companies in Singapore. Undergraduates and graduates in Singapore commonly take up internships to get their foot in the door while employers can evaluate potential recruits.
Pasona Singapore will work closely with companies and the university to announce internship opportunities. The staffing firm will then recruit and screen applicants and offer support to interns and companies throughout the work experience programme.
Nanyang Technological University is one of the most prestigious universities in the world and, according to Pasona, the engineering and science school also has the highest percentage of college graduates finding work in Singapore.
“The Internship Matching Service that Pasona Singapore will commence aims not only to create internship opportunities for NTU students but also alleviate companies' internship related operations through outsourcing,” said Pasona in a press statement. “The service also aims to allow NTU to enhance career support services to its students by allowing Pasona Singapore to act as a mediator between students and companies.”
