Oman: Fostering labour ties with Bangladesh

06 May 2013

Oman and Bangladesh have been in discussion about ways to develop labour co-operation and the recruitment of skilled Bangladeshi manpower to support the Omani labour market according to the Oman Daily Observer.

In talks between Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Omani Minister of Manpower, and Khandakar Musharraf Hussain, Bangladesh Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment. The Bangladeshi side expressed its willingness to provide well-qualified and skilled manpower for a variety of professions and vowed to raise awareness among workers about labour ethics and the laws and traditions of the Sultanate.

Both sides stressed that all manpower recruitment offices have to provide only workers approved by the Bangladeshi government and to deal only with labour recruitment agencies approved by the Omani government. The Bangladeshi side will provide an updated list of labour recruitment agencies of Bangladesh.
