Crecer + (Grow +) is the name of the joint youth employability programme launched by Adecco and electricity provider Endesa. The purpose of the programme is to support young people at risk of social exclusion in gaining knowledge and soft skills to better enable their integration into working life.
The programme was launched in 2012 across Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and Peru. The initiative will run until 2015 and will benefit more than 1,000 low-income young people, providing them with training and guidance through workshops. In 2012, 561 young people, from a target group of 17 – 24 year-olds, were supported in gaining their first work experience.
Workshops include interview skills, communications skills development, and enhancement of trust. Endesa and Adecco stress that the situation of youth unemployment in South America is particularly bad.
“The unemployment in Latin America remains high, at around 18%, for the whole region, which makes [young people at risk from social exclusion] a vulnerable social group. The new generation need guaranteed jobs and financial training support, which will help with improved development in Latin America,” said Adecco CEO, Francisco Mesonero.
