India – Randstad CEO quits

10 June 2013

Randstad India has announced that Managing Director and CEO, E. Balaji, has decided to step down from his position to pursue career opportunities outside the company. The recruiter has now appointed Moorthy K. Uppaluri as CEO of Randstad India.

The pair will work together over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition period. Mr Balaji joined Randstad’s predecessor Ma Foi in 1994 and worked in a number of leadership positions over the last 19 years. Founded in 1992, Ma Foi became part of Randstad in 2008 when Randstad acquired Vedior.

In his 24-year career, Mr Uppaluri has had stints at General Electric and Microsoft, both in India and in the US. Most recently Mr. Uppaluri was the Global Head and General Manager of Microsoft Academic Programs at their corporate US headquarters in Redmond. He will join the company as CEO in a week’s time, the Netherlands-based staffing firm said.
