Online job portal Shine.com has launched a social media referral service aimed at helping job seekers find work. The service links to the user’s Facebook account identifying friends working in companies with suitable vacancies. The friend is asked to support the user’s application by referring them.
The initial success of the campaign is reflected in the trending of the company’s catch phrase, #yaartuGodhai comparing a friend helping to get you a job to God. However, the catch phrase seems to be already distancing itself from the brand with significant use on social media not associated with Shine.com.
Earlier this year, Shine.com announced a strategic partnership with social recruitment platform MyParichay, making Shine.com the first Indian job portal to integrate recruitment services through Facebook. shine.com competes with rival online job recruitment site naukri.com. It has around 5,000 recruiters, including 2,000 paid ones. The new platform allows a recruiter to access a candidate’s profile after an application is made through Facebook.
