23 October 2013

Social networking giant Facebook has surpassed LinkedIn, as higher numbers of people found jobs in the second quarter of this year through Facebook, according to the Facebook Recruiting in India Quarterly Adoption report by social recruitment platform MyParichay, reports newindianexpress.com.

According to the report, six out of every 10 white collar professionals currently use only Facebook to find employment. This corresponds with the substantial growth of employers in the country using Facebook as a recruitment tool in the past 12 months.

Sectors including banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), business services, engineering, manufacturing as well as travel and tourism have used Facebook to find talent. However, the information technology and services (ITES) industries have been the primary recruiters from the Facebook platform, the report says.

The report notes: “Facebook hiring is measured by the presence of careers tab or jobs tab on Facebook official pages along with the capability for candidates to browse and apply for jobs.”

Top employers brand presence on Facebook has grown +66% year over year, which is measured by the presence of official company pages on the social networking site.

Commenting on the report, Ranjan Sinha, co-founder and chairman of MyParichay said, “We are seeing a strong adoption of Facebook hiring technologies. Companies are seeing a +100% increase in number of quality talent especially those that hire candidates in the 21-30 age segment.”
