Australia remains one of the top destinations for migrating professionals, but has slipped in a global rankings survey amid the high-value dollar putting pressure on exchange rates.
An international survey has placed Australia third, behind the US and UK, when it comes to career opportunities and desirable relocation destinations.
"Oil and gas continues to be a real growth area, with demand increasing for professionals with unconventional experience,'' Shane Little, spokesman for global recruitment agency the Hydrogen Group which commissioned the survey, said of Australia.
"There is also a growing demand for professionals in life sciences and pharmaceuticals, in particular on the clinical research and development side, and in regulatory affairs and compliance.
"Australia is also a technology hub, with growth currently in cloud technology, analytics and big data storage.''
"Australia, consistently popular as it combines highly-developed professional sectors with a high quality of life, ranked second for oil and gas, third for finance and life sciences, and fourth for law and technology,'' the report reads.
