Australia – Skilled migrants unsettling IT workers

Recruitment firm Greythorn reports that 36% of IT workers in Australia feel threatened by the number of skilled overseas workers entering the country. 27% of respondents had lost a job due to outsourcing and 20% feared their current job would be outsourced.

43% of respondents have been in their current role for less than 12 months. Of those surveyed, only 7% are not currently interested in changing job. Those actively looking for other employment jumped from 32% in 2012, to 43% in 2013.

Over half of respondent would consider international relocation to access better opportunities and improve career prospects. The UK and North America ranked highest as employment destinations, with 54% and 51% respectively.
