Australia – Coverage of the Freelancer IPO around the web

Following Australian online jobs board Freelancer Limited (ASX:FLN)  strong initial public offering (IPO) on Friday, a number of interesting resources about the company have emerged.

These included Freelancer’s CEO & Chairman Matt Barrie outlining the job outsourcing company’s ambitions for “global domination” following its ASX listing. To watch the full video, please click here.

David Glance, Director, Centre for Software Practice at University of Western Australia wrote an interesting overview of the IPO in “The Conversation”. This includes his feeling that “Freelancer is not the dominant player in this market and will face an uphill struggle to take that spot. Online labour marketplace companies oDesk and Elance are bigger in revenue terms despite Freelancer listing more jobs and having more freelance workers registered. Freelancer is aiming for the cheaper end of the market and it’s not clear at this stage whether this segment will grow as significantly as the markets that oDesk and Elance cater for”.
