Around the web – Education recruiters complain about racism

Several recruitment agencies have complained that some schools on the outskirts of London are hesitant to hire ethnic minority temporary staff, the BBC reports today. One recruiter, The London Teaching Pool, said that some schools did not want to have non-white teachers.

Some schools appear to worry that such supply teachers would not have adequate English language skills, which could be interpreted as racism. But the head of staffing company London Teaching Pool, Darryl Mydat, said that he had clients request “white Anglo-Saxon teachers.”
