“Private employment agencies are creating a channel toward the employment market,” said Fred Van Haasteren, President of the International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Ciett), as part of the opening ceremony of the XII Latin American Congress on Private Employment Agencies.
The Congress was organised by the Argentinian Federation of Private Employment Agencies (FAETT) and the Latin American Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Clett&A).
The ceremony was also attended by Ciett CEO Denis Pennel, who presented ‘The way to work’, a global overview of activity in the industry. Mr Pennel then spoke about Latin America, which he considers a market with great potential for growth, particularly in Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Peru.
Ciett represent more than 140,000 private employment agencies across the globe, which provide jobs to more than 12 million people. Fred Van Haateren said: “In Latin America, it is essential to strengthen the positive role of the agencies in the labour markets and regulate the industry through the ratification of ILO Convention 181.”
Guillermo Alonso Navone, a representative of Argentina’s Labour Ministry expressed his satisfaction in participating in a meeting that brings together officials and managers from all over the world, who not only seek to develop their own sectors but demonstrate a commitment to the whole industry.
