2015 Largest US Staffing Firms Ranked in Latest Staffing Industry Analysts Report

20th Annual Report Reveals Revenue Growth of 122 Firms

Mountain View, Calif. – July 9, 2015 - Staffing Industry Analysts, the global advisor on contingent work, today released the 2015 Largest Staffing Firms in the United States report showcasing 122 firms that generated a combined $69.4 billion in U.S. staffing revenue, representing 55.9% of the market. Allegis Group topped the list for the ninth year in a row, with $8.3 billion in staffing revenue. The top five firms remain unchanged for the second year in a row.

A record 17 firms generated more than $1 billion in staffing revenue last year. Taken together, these firms represented over a third (36.4%) of the market. Each firm on the list generated more than $100 million in U.S. staffing revenue in 2014, the criteria for inclusion in the report. The report also provides the top two revenue segments for each firm listed, along with a market share percentage based on our estimate of $124.1 billion for the size of the overall U.S. staffing industry in 2014.

“The $69 billion in staffing revenue generated by these firms underscores the health of the staffing industry, and provides bottom-up evidence that supports our belief that the overall industry continues to grow at a rate significantly faster than the overall economy,” said Barry Asin, president of Staffing Industry Analysts. “In addition, while there is sometimes a public perception of the staffing industry as only providing lower wage jobs, we note that roughly two thirds of the staffing firms listed in this report have professional occupations or retained search as their largest revenue segment.”

The 5 largest U.S. staffing companies are:

Company 2014 U.S. Staffing Revenue ($millions) Market Share
Allegis Group 8,287 6.7%
Adecco 4,500 3.6%
Randstad Holding 4,405 3.5%
ManpowerGroup 3,816 3.1%
Kelly Services 3,288 2.6%

“This is the most accurate report we have ever produced on the U.S. staffing firm competitive landscape,” said Timothy Landhuis, research manager for Staffing Industry Analysts. “Roughly three fourths of the 122 staffing companies featured in this report shared the size of their 2014 staffing revenue, enabling us to produce an industry portrait with unprecedented clarity.”

As further evidence of growth in the industry, this year’s report featured 13 companies that did not appear on last year’s report but qualified this year on the basis of generating more than $100 million in staffing revenue. Staffing revenue for the purposes of this report includes revenue generated from temporary staffing, direct hire, retained search, and temp-to-hire conversion fees.
