Italy - Agency employment up +25.1%

The seasonally adjusted sum of wages paid to agency temporary employees was up by +25.1% in April 2011 compared with April 2010, according to the latest data published by the bilateral organisation for temporary employment representing employers' associations and unions (Ebitemp).

Month-on-month, the sum of wages paid to agency temporary employees was up by +1.5% in April 2011 compared with March 2011.

The average number of agency temporary employees was up by +13.8% from 233,000 in April 2010 to 265,000 in April 2011.

The seasonally adjusted number of hours worked by all agency temporary employees was up by +27.6% to 26.5 million in April 2011 when compared with April 2010.

 The average number of hours worked by each temporary employee was up by +11.7% from 89.5 hours in April 2010 to 100 hours in April 2011.

The Ebitemp analysis is based on figures supplied by The National Insurance Office (Inail).
