IT job growth decelerates in September

The number of U.S. information technology jobs increased for the 25th consecutive month in September, but the rate of growth slowed, according to the TechServe Alliance’s IT employment index. The number of IT jobs rose 0.11 percent from August and rose 5.9 percent compared to September 2012.

“While demand for IT professionals remains strong, the rate of IT employment growth has slowed over the last quarter,” said TechServe Alliance CEO Mark Roberts. “The deceleration is no doubt attributable to multiple factors including some increased caution on the part of businesses and uncertainty associated with policy disputes in Washington, D.C.”
