TeamHealth names new general counsel and chief HR officer

Team Health Holdings Inc. (NYSE: TMH) named Steve Clifton executive VP, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Sept. 14. The firm also named Eric Norman as chief human resources officer, a new role within the firm, effective Sept. 1.

TeamHealth ranks on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list largest US healthcare staffing providers, but has significant other healthcare operations.

Clifton replaces Heidi Allen, who left the firm to relocate to South Carolina. Clifton most recently served as senior VP and general counsel at Health Management Associates and the VP of legal operations at Hospital Corporation of America.

“For more than two decades, Steve has built an impressive track record of providing invaluable strategic and operational leadership at top-tier healthcare organizations,” said President and CEO Michael Snow. “His extensive background in the healthcare industry will be instrumental in helping TeamHealth deliver value to our affiliated healthcare providers, client hospitals and administrative teams.”

Norman previously served at Cardinal Health as senior VP of HR as well as in other roles.

“With more than 25 years of human resources experience within the healthcare industry, Eric’s new role as chief human resources officer will strengthen TeamHealth’s reputation as a leading physician services organization,” said Snow. “His depth of experience, proven leadership abilities and visionary guidance will provide the platform for TeamHealth to better serve our affiliated clinicians and administrative employees in areas of talent management, development and employee relations.”
