Medical rounds robot being developed — Web

Science Daily reports a Japanese university has developed a medical rounds robot named “Terapio.”

“Terapio moves on its own as it ‘autonomously tracks a specified human,’ recording patients’ vital signs and displaying data such as electronic health records,” according to the report.

“The network system connects mobile nursing robots and sensors embedded in the environment,” according to the Web page for Ryo Saegusa, project associate professor. “The system then recognizes activities of patients and caregivers to support them with nursing robots.”
