New Cross Country CEO formally takes over

Cross Country Healthcare Inc. (NASD: CCRN) reported that William Grubbs has formally taken on the role of CEO and president effective July 5. The healthcare staffing provider had announced the transition back in March.

Grubbs takes over from Joseph Boshart, who had served as CEO and president since 1994. Boshart led the company from private ownership through its initial public offering in 2001 and its growth as a public company. Boshart retired from the CEO and president roles as well as from his position as a director of the company.

“I’ve had an incredible experience at Cross Country and, after working with Bill through a transition period the past few months, I’m confident I’m leaving it in good hands,” Boshart said.

Prior to joining Cross Country, Grubbs served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at TrueBlue Inc. (NYSE: TBI) from October 2012 through March 2013. Grubbs also held senior executive positions, including chief operating officer, at SFN Group Inc from 2005 through 2011. SFN Group Inc. was formerly known as Spherion before being acquired by Randstad Holding NV in 2011. It ranked as one of the largest staffing firms in the U.S. at the time of its acquisition.

Grubbs has more than 25 years of experience in the staffing industry.

“Cross Country has a stellar history, a great reputation and an excellent team,” Grubbs said. “I am very excited to build on this strong foundation to drive value for our customer and shareholders.”
