The International Confederation of Private Employment agencies (Ciett) yesterday welcomed the resolution of the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES), which aims to reduce unemployment through the promotion of partnerships between public and private employment services.
“Partnerships between public and private employment services will be key to achieve better and faster matching of labour demand and supply and will ensure improved responsiveness and resilience to rapid technological, social, and economic changes for workers, jobseekers and other labour market actors,” the Ciett said.
WAPES has urged for a close cooperation with key stakeholders in the labour market, which includes staffing firms, to ensure greater integration of jobseekers and good living standards for both employees and those looking for work.
This comes after the WAPES held its ninth World Congress in Seoul, Korea, to discuss global development in the labour market which resulted in the Seoul Declaration. This sets out a clear mission for employment services around the world, promoting sustainable economic growth, social stability and the welfare of workers.
