UK – Temporary vacancies fall, says ICAP

11 December 2012

Hiring levels amongst UK employers fell by -4.1% last month with temporary vacancies dropping by -10%, according to the latest vacancy index by ICAP. This shows that the labour market remains volatile despite improved unemployment levels.

In November, medical & nursing showed strong growth in temporary vacancies and saw a +19% rise. Between September and November, temporary workers were also high in demand in call centre and customers service jobs, followed by education, retail and property/housing jobs.

In the period, the weakest sector for temporary staff was sales while prospects were also not much better in advertising and PR.
