UK business woman and TV personality Mary Portas plans to open an employment agency which will help the over-65s back into work with the venture turned into another TV series to be aired on Channel 4.
Known as a fashion and retail expert, Ms Portas has spotted the potential of under-valued pensioners. She plans to reintegrate older workers into the labour market by using their skills and experience which may be underrated by companies.
The employment agency will be featured in a new Channel 4 series, Mary's Jobs for Life, to be broadcast later this year.
Channel 4 commissioning editor, Rich Evans, said: “I can’t wait to see Mary bring the agency to life in her own, inimitable style. She passionately wants to give the older generation the opportunity to go on providing the services and skills sadly lacking in today’s marketplace.”
The station added that “Mary will cast the net wide to recruit an army of Old Age Pensioners who may have been cast aside by society, but still have very much to offer.”
Mary Portas is best known for her retail and business related television shows. She was also appointed by Prime Minister David Cameron to lead a review into the future of Britain's high streets.
