Recruitment start-up Instant Impact has bucked the trend by focusing exclusively on finding graduates and students for the small business sector according to the Mail on Sunday.
Founded in April 2011 by Cambridge graduates Rob Blythe and Felix Mitchell. The central London-based firm turned over £100,000 in its first full year of trading and is aiming to treble that in its next financial year.
Felix, 24, says: “If recruitment activity in the small and mid market sector is a barometer of what's happening in the economy, there is plenty of room for optimism, with growth across the board, particularly in digital and marketing analytics.”
Their model has attracted interest from the US, where small business graduate recruitment is less developed, and where Instant Impact will launch next month.
“The big challenge will be to stay focused on our UK business and not fall into the trap of spreading ourselves too thin,” says Felix.“This is a huge market that will continue to grow in 2013, and that bodes well for small businesses and for graduate employment.”'
