UK — HRGO Norwich wins 1.8 million Pounds contract

26 August 2009

HRGO (Norwich), formed from the amalgamation of Castle Personnel and Recruit Direct in June, has landed a 1.8 million Pounds contract with book distributor Bertram Group to supply mainly temporary staff at the Norwich publisher in a year-long contract, edp24 reports.

The deal is seen as a major boost for the recruitment company which employs 13 at its offices in Norwich city centre and North Walsham, and which was forced to make four people redundant in June because of the recession.

Norwich-based Recruit Direct and Castle Personnel were both set up in 2000 and quickly became competitors. In 2002 Castle Personnel went into partnership with national recruitment firm HRGO, which went on to become a shareholder in Recruit Direct. The companies, which had a combined turnover of about £5m last year, agreed to merge under the HRGO name in January and the deeds were signed six months later.

The company provides temporary and permanent staff across a wide range of sectors including driving, office, catering, estate agencies, industrial, IT and trades.
Co-managing director Liz Bunn added: "June was a very tough month on the back of the euphoria of the merge we had the redundancy programme which soured the good news. The team showed immense dignity. Then we started tendering for contracts. "Securing the £1.8m deal has been wonderful. It has been a team effort. It's a very big account for us."
