UK employers are reluctant to celebrate the nation’s biggest event this year with three in five having no plans to do anything special regarding the upcoming Olympic Games in London, research by Adecco shows.
But employers are clearly missing out. “The London 2012 Games are set to be the biggest events this country has ever witnessed. This is a great opportunity for employers nationwide to improve working conditions, improve team working, increase motivation and company loyalty, and fuel bonding between colleagues by running a programme of activity around the Games,” argues Adecco MD, Steven Kirkpatrick.
Adecco, which is the official recruitment services provider of the London 2012 Games, found only one in ten have made plans to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic Games, revealing that British employers are failing to realise opportunities to engage their staff. But almost half of employers felt they should indeed be celebrating.
Those who are planning to get involved mainly intend to decorate their offices or watch the Games live. However, motivation levels are not soaring either as when respondents were asked on a scale of 1 to 10 how excited they were about London 2012, the UK national average is only 6.46 out of 10.
