The winners of the 2013 APSCo Awards for Excellence - sponsored by RBS and daXtra – were announced on the 9th October at a business lunch with guest speaker Baroness Bottomley. These annual awards recognise and celebrate achievement in the recruitment industry and are an indicator of professional standards throughout this sector.
Entries for the APSCo Awards were judged by an independent panel of experts, chaired by recruitment veteran and APSCo Chairman Les Clark. The ‘Recruitment Company of the Year £5-50m’ ,Affiliate Member of the Year’ and ‘RPO/MSP’ awards were judged by Katie Folwell-Davies and Vicki Mortimer, from Deloitte, Chris Clark from Highfield Advisory, Aaron Boland from RBS, and Godfrey Morrell, an independent consultant to the recruitment industry.
Marilyn Davidson, Director of APSCo, commented: “As the only awards in the recruitment sector that require shortlisted businesses to attend a Q&A session with a judging panel, they are without doubt the most onerous, demanding and perhaps most challenging out there. It was certainly a tough job for our judging panel to decide on the winners and all entrants should feel very proud of their hard work in what can only be described as the most fiercely contested awards to date”.
The winners of the awards were:
Recruitment Company of the Year under £5m
The Curve Group : Judges were impressed by how well the company has transformed itself through a difficult market into a diverse operation with a clear vision for future growth.
Recruitment Company of the Year £5m - £50m
Phaidon International: Judges were impressed with the excellent leadership and strong structure for future growth the business has demonstrated, and felt it had really aligned its business with its key market sectors.
Recruitment Company of the Year £50m +
Fircroft: Judges recognised the leading position the business holds within its sector, as well as the work it has done to implement effective internal systems and procedures to sustain impressive growth.
Recruitment Company: Sustainable Growth
Amoria Bond: The company’s clear strategy, consistent numbers, and well-articulated business plan really impressed the judges.
International Recruitment Company of the Year
SThree: Judges were impressed with the company’s well thought through strategic approach to international growth, backed up by a complete review of its people and systems to support this.
CSR Initiative of the Year
Morgan Hunt: Judges were impressed with the company’s CSR culture which is intrinsically integrated and part of the fibre of the team from CEO downwards.
Affiliate Member of the Year
Saffery Champness: Clearly demonstrating its dedication to the recruitment sector, judges were impressed with how well the company has sought new ways to deliver verifiable benefits to APSCo members.
Innovator of the Year
Annapurna HR: Judges felt that, by disrupting the traditional recruitment model, this company is showing how a staffing company needs to be different in this new world.
Individual Contribution to APSCo
Miles Hunt: As chairman of the APSCo Representative Committee for the last 2 years, Miles has been instrumental in driving APSCo through an unprecedented period of growth, both in the UK and Internationally.
Outstanding Commitment to APSCo
Les Clark: As a founder member of APSCo. Les has been a participative and supportive member for over 14 years. He served on the Executive Committee from 2004 to 2007 contributing significantly to APSCo’s growth and development.
RPO/MSP of the Year
Volt Consulting Group: The judges felt that this organisation was succeeding in balancing tensions between traditional recruitment models and RPO solutions, coupled with an exemplary record of honesty and integrity throughout the supply chain.
