A new report commissioned by the Dutch Association of Temporary Employment Agencies (ABU) and carried out by Ecorys amongst 8,000 temporary employees in The Netherlands, reveals that the majority of temporary staff are happy with their work.
84% feel that their relationship with permanent staff is good. 83% judge the working atmosphere as positive and 72% are happy with the content of their work. 80% are satisfied with the number of hours worked and 61% are satisfied with their wages. Only 16% were dissatisfied with their wages.
Only 1% worked in temporary employment because they could not find a permanent job. 28% are looking for permanent employment via a temporary position. A further 18% mentioned working experience as a reason for their temporary employment and 16% use temporary employment as a Summer job.
ABU director Aart van der Gaag says that “the public perception is that people choose temporary work because they have no other choice. This study among a large group of temporary employees shows the opposite. Temporary employment is a conscious choice for many people. The research shows that temporary workers feel fully accepted and judge their working conditions as very positive.â€VbCrLf
