Switzerland — Unemployment reaches 4.5% in January

The State Secretariat for the Economy (SECO), today publishes the latest Labour Market Survey for January 2010. The unemployment rate is up from 4.4% in December 2009 to 4.5% in January 2010. Compared to January 2009 unemployment was up by 36.9% or 47,335 individuals.

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 year olds) is up by +1% to 29,979 individuals. Compared to January 2009, youth unemployment is up by 8,613 individuals or +40.3%.

 
In January 2010 the Swiss job centres (RAV) registered an increase of 1,704 job offers to 12,528 job offers in total.
