Switzerland – Temporary staffing falters in July

19 August 2014

The number of temporary jobs posted in Switzerland fell by -5.6% in July 2014, compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from Swiss Staffing, the Swiss Federation of Staffing Companies.

Since the start of the year, there has been an increase of +1.1% in the number of temporary jobs posted. However, during the past 12 months, the average number of temporary jobs decreased by -0.4% when compared with the preceding 12 months.

The uneven development of the staffing industry since the start of the year reflects the hesitancy of the Swiss economy, which is still waiting for the export market to fully recover. Unemployment remains low at 2.9% and, according to Swiss Staffing, various sources expect employment to stabilise in the coming months.

Key:

Veränderung gegenüber Vorjahresmonat – Change compared with the same month last year

Durschnittswachstum der letzten 12 Monate – Average change over the past 12 months

Wachstum seit Jahresbeginn (gegenüber Vorjahresperiode) – Change since the start of the year (compared with the same period last year)
