The volume of temporary work fell by -7.1% in Switzerland during January 2014 compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from Swiss Staffing, the Swiss Federation of Staffing Companies. January marks the fourth consecutive month of decline.
Based on the currently available data, the temporary staffing market stabilised during 2013 compared with 2012. However, the organisation is quick to add that it is too early to declare an industry recovery.
The macroeconomic forecast for 2014 is generally positive, however, the recent announcement from the Swiss government that the country will halt the free movement of EU citizens into the country over the next three years could negatively impact the staffing market.
