The traditional lull in recruitment during the last quarter of the year in Switzerland failed to materialise, resulting in a +15% rise in the Adecco Employment Market index compared with the same quarter in 2012.
The Q4 index rose by +2%, compared with the previous quarter, with the demand rising by +10% across Switzerland during the course of 2013, compared with 2012. Eastern Switzerland reported the biggest quarter-on-quarter increase of +9%, however on an annual basis, the employment index increased by +25%.
Demand fell in central Switzerland (-6%) from the last quarter, with marginal rises of +3% in the regions of l'Espace Mittelland and +2% in Zurich. The region around Lake Geneva reported growth of +1%, while the Northwest more or less stagnated with a decline of -1%, compared with the previous quarter.
