In its entire history, 2011 was the best year for the Swiss staffing industry, according to a report published by Switzerland’s federation of staffing agencies, Swiss Staffing.
The report found that the staffing industry in the country has developed exceptionally well in 2011. There has been a record demand for temporary and agency workers and compared to 2010, the volume of the contingency workforce increased on average by +9%. This, in effect, means that 2011 was the best year for agency workers and the staffing industry in Switzerland.
The +9% growth figure precisely matches the Swiss forecast estimated by Staffing Industry Analysts in its European Staffing Market Forecasts 2011. European market forecasts for 2012 are available here.
March and April have seen the strongest growth in 2011, both months exceeding a growth rate of 40%. This is a particularly positive development as the growth rate of the same months in 2010 was in the minus. The report also shows that the first half of 2011 experienced the stronger growth when compared to the second half of the year. From June to December 2011 the growth rate was below the average growth rate of +9%. Growth gradually decreased towards the end of the year, with the last quarter of the year seeing a negative growth ranging between -1% to -7%. However, things at least started to lighten up again in December when the decline improved slightly to -1.7%.
