Swedish staffing firm Poolia (POOLB: SS) has announced the appointed of Morten Werner to the post of Managing Director and CEO. Mr Werner’s appointment comes following the resignation of former CEO Monika Elling following criticism of her leadership.
Mr Werner has previously been Managing Director of health and wellness companies Feelgood for three years and Help24 Pandora (Hjælp24 Pandora) for four years. Most recently Mr Werner was Managing Director of gardening company Hasselfors Garden AB.
Björn Örås, Poolia’s Board Chairman, commented: “It is with great satisfaction we present our new CEO, Morten Werner. Poolia is standing in front of changes and [is preparing] to invest in its core business, temporary staffing, and permanent placements within the white collar segment. To be able to lead the company in this direction, a proven and skilled manager is needed and we have found that person in Morten Werner.
“We are convinced that Morten will reinstate both profitability and growth. Morten will also buy 400,000 shares in the company, which is very positive,” Mr Örås concluded.
Mr Werner added: “I look forward to take on Poolia and use all my experience and energy to rejuvenate Poolia. Poolia has a very strong brand and will retake its former position as the best specialist company within temporary staffing and permanent placement in the white collar segment in Sweden. An important goal is to be the company that attracts the best staff.”
Mr Werner will face a challenging environment when he steps up to the top job. In the company’s most recent financial results, they reported a -18.2% fall in revenue during the three months ending 30 September 2013, when compared with the same period the previous year. It was also announced recently that Poolia had reached a preliminary agreement to sell its subsidiary Development House (Utvecklingshuset) to rival recruitment firm Uniflex.
