Men are more likely to take on agency work than their female counterparts, according to new data by the Swedish statistics office published today. This has also found that the number of agency workers increased by +14% last year.
In 2011, 59% of those working the staffing industry were men, compared to 41% of women. Ten years ago, the opposite was the case. The data shows that men also saw bigger pay increases with their gross salaries rising by +37% between 2010 and 2011. Pay rates for women increased by only 28%.
The figures show that the largest employment sectors last year included health and social care, as well as manufacturing and mining. In the capital Stockholm, business services took the lead.
