It is good news for those working in environmental-related jobs as these are particularly high in demand, according to one of Sweden’s largest staffing firms, Proffice, which has opened a new division for this sector.
“The need for environmental expertise is increasing as more and more companies and organisations focus on environmental issues and sustainability,” said Anita Gustafsson, recruitment manager at Proffice in the specialist market of Life Science.
The top “green jobs” can be found in environmental technology, renewable energy, environmental security, transportation, production and management of waste and dangerous goods.
“Today it's almost a hygiene factor for large companies to work with sustainability issues and to be environmentally certified. There is also a strong competitive advantage when it comes to attracting the future workforce. Therefore it is important for business growth to really invest in the environment,” Ms Gustafson said.
The staffing firm has a dedicated a new division to “green jobs” which had before been part of the company’s Life Science segment. The firm expect this will attract business from companies of all sizes looking to hire in this field.
“Environment is the area expected to contribute to many new jobs in Sweden and the rest of the world. An international study conducted by research institute, ACON AG in Zurich shows that the green sector will increase by 25 million jobs worldwide by 2020,” Ms Gustafsson added.
