Sweden — Employment falls due to job losses in public sector

According to the latest data published today by Statistics Sweden (SCB), the number of employed persons amounted to 4,050,700 during the second quarter of 2010, a decrease of -0.6% compared to Q1 2010. The number of employed persons in the private sector increased by +0.1 percent and decreased by -2.0% in the public sector.

Gross pay increased in total by +2.1% during the second quarter compared to Q1 2010. Gross pay increased by +3.1% in the private sector, while it increased +0.4% in the public sector.


During the second quarter of 2010 there were 57,000 job openings in the labour market, an increase of +58% compared to the previous quarter.
