Spain — Start People launches agriculture and food division

03 November 2009

Temporary employment agency Start People Spain, a subsidiary of Dutch multinational staffing group USG People, has launched a division which specialises in the agricultural, fisheries and food production industries.

The industry is the first manufacturing sector in Spain with a turnover of 90 billion Euro last year, 500,000 employees and 31,000 companies.

Javier Ayuso, Managing Director of Start People Spain, said "the agri-food sector, i.e. the production of fruits and vegetables is creating new jobs in Spain. It is one of the few Spanish industries, which exports more than it imports."

"The agri-food sector has experienced strong growth and many people who used to work in construction or hospitality are now considering the sector as a career opportunity they may not previously have considered."
The staffing agency provides training courses, both physical and via e-learning and has field technicians who supervise the workers in order to guarantee a high level of competence and efficiency.

The most sought after positions in the Spanish agricultural and food industry are: field labourers, collectors and handlers, foremen and packaging specialists.
