The representatives of unions and employers who are currently negotiating new labour market measures to be taken by the government have asked for more time in order to be able to come up with concrete proposals, Nueva Tribuna reports.
The negotiations are taking place on the initiative of Prime Minister Zapatero and proposals had been planned to be discussed by the Spanish Council of Ministers today. An earlier round of negotiations last year broke up without concrete proposals.
Labour Minister Celestino Corbacho confirmed that "the government will delay the approval of labour market measures until 5 February 2010" but added "there will be no further delays in the approval of the document."
