Spain — Agett campaigns on behalf of young unemployed

19 July 2010

The Association of Large Temporary Employment Agencies (Agett), has appealed to the government to allow temporary employment agencies to place young unemployed in internships and apprenticeships in order to enable them to enter the labour market, El Economista reports.

The association highlights that almost 50% of the under-25 year olds in Spain are unemployed and calls the situation "unsustainable".

According to Agett in-house data, 25% of all temporary employment contracts signed by temporary employment agencies in the first quarter of 2010 concerned under-25 year olds. This amounts to 100,000 temporary employment contracts for young people in the first quarter of 2010 alone.
